A friend of mine from high school wrote this comment on one of my blogs on MySpace today:
“My dad had someone ask him this past weekend if they could post a photo of my sisters twin boys on a county website (my dad had them at a fair). He was telling me this and it led me to tell him about this girl I knew from high school who had these pictures taken and well you know the story…so anyway I say that this website called the Inquirer started to track her and he turns to me and says “Oh My God! You went to High School with The Everywhere Girl??” It was soooo crazy!! He used to read the Inquirer all the time and knew exactly what I was talking about!”
for some reason I just loved that…

I admit that there’s something about that picture that attracted an interest and in tying to analyze what it is, well, it’s obvious that she’s attractive but more so she portrays somebody who values knowledge; an image that I think would certainly appeal to dads. My sense was that the Everywhere Girl was somebody who values her looks but has other values as well; an image of a girl who has it all and that distinguishes her from all the “ordinary” glamour found everywhere else within today’s media.
the train is picking up steam…
A wonderful anecdote.
Hmmm … I doubt any of my friends would know who the Everywhere Girl is, since they are all non-techs and likely have never heard of The Inquirer either.
I know what you mean Richard, the other day I said the word ‘blog’ in a conversation. Then everyone asked me what a blog was…. -_-;
Which makes me think, Everywhere Girl maybe hugely famous, but mostly with a particular audience. Mostly INQ readers.
I’m not much of a techy but I know about EG.
