my carefully worded sentence

From The Everywhere Girl Diaries – a work of fiction

Last week of June, year one

Dear Diary,

So, ever since our plans after graduation were published in the paper, I’ve been getting a lot of questions about mine.  I don’t think people can understand plain English.  I say that because they say things like, “I don’t understand.”

My carefully worded sentence seems clear enough to me…

Our next graduate plans to spend the foreseeable future blending, melding, and amalgamating a variety of disciplines into an inspired whole.

It should be perfectly obvious to everyone that my major is going to be General Studies.

How can anyone my age possibly have a clue as to what they want to do for the rest of their life?  There are just way too many choices. I don’t want to end up like the very unhappy (fill in the blank) who, when asked why he/she became a (fill in the blank), said, “Because that’s what some 18-year-old decided I should do.”
