Dear Diary,

We have our second speech club trip next week – I know, the week before finals.  At least it’s at the beginning of the week.

Everyone says I’ll love the place we’re staying – Sacony Commons in Kutztown, Pa. It’s off campus housing for Kutztown University and it’s on Normal Ave. Isn’t that funny? Normal Ave.

In the meantime, my Christmas vacation plans just keep getting weirder and weirder.  Mom emailed me today (I think she was afraid to call) and told me that I’ll be having Christmas dinner with Ally and her family.  I’m fine with that because I adore Ally’s parents and it will be wonderful to spend time with Ally. It will, however, be a vegetarian dinner, so no smoked oysters for me this year.

But then, (get this) I’m flying to Brazil to spend two or three weeks with my Aunt Beth, whose apparently there on business. And finally, they have me on a plane to Mexico City the third week in January so I can meet up with the family for a few days before we all go back to work and school.

I appreciate Mom trying to make up for the fact that we won’t be together for the holidays, but I’m so tired that I would have been content to be left at home with pizza, Netflix, and several pairs of flannel pjs. Besides, now I have to find my passport, and I guess I need a visa and a bunch of vaccinations too. Some people just go to Disneyland.

Still, Brazil might be fun…
